Joseph Bismark, The Marketing Monk

I stumbled upon an impressive story today on the WordPress blog Please Don’t Ask Alice. It’s the story of Joseph Bismark, a leader in the marketing industry with a deeply spiritual side. At the age of nine, Bismark traipsed into the Philippine mountains to become a Mac Ashram monk, where he stayed until he was seventeen-years-old. This would be a remarkable achievement for anyone, let alone a child.

In December of 2008, Joseph Bismark became the Managing Director of the QI group and was critical in the founding of Qnet. Bismark uses his inclusive attitude to propel his team forward to success. Bismark doesn’t stop there. He values service as much as teamwork. With this in mind, he labors tirelessly for the RHYTHM foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the IQ Group, setting a remarkable example for those he leads.

Joseph Bismark is not merely a leader in his field, however. He is a man of many talents, including yoga instructor, martial artist, and bonsai master. However, Bismark does not take sole credit for his success. He stands by the principle of absolute truth and credits the Lord as the guiding force in his life and business. I was particularly struck by his sense of humility.

Bismark warns against becoming complacent in any aspect of life or losing yourself in the rat race of the corporate world. In his worldview, a team is only as good as the individual members, so Bismark focuses on encouraging others and helping them find their inner peace.

It is with this deeply ingrained set of values that Bismark is taking Qnet into the wellness sector of the business world. I look forward to hearing more about this remarkable individual.
