Perry Mandera had no idea that he would become a transportation industry pioneer, when he joined the United States Marine Corps as a Reservist Motor Pool driver. But, that’s just what happened after learning how to drive during his initial military commitment. Then, at the tender age of 23, he started his own transportation company in 1980. Five years later, Perry sold that business, by that time he also served on the Republican Ward committee. His political career span from 1984-1988, and in 1986, he returned to entrepreneurship. Perry Mandera founded, The Custom Companies incorporated in 1986, now a major transportation provider, headquartered in Northlake, Illinois with a branch office in California.
The Custom Companies has grown into an industry leader, providing a wide range of services that include: air freight forwarding, a United States bonded warehouse, local and dedicated contract cartage and logistics and truckload and LTL services. With 200 million dollars plus in sales, Perry was chosen as one of the Top 100 American Transportation Executives of the Millennium by the Illinois Transportation Association (ITA). Perry Mandera is the President and CEO, today he remains just as focused on providing excellent service to his clients as he did in the early days. With Custom Companies receiving many professional accolades, this propelled the company into financial success. But, the story doesn’t end there because Perry Mandera is also a devoted giver and he works tirelessly with charitable organizations, including his own.
Since the beginning of The Custom Companies Inc., Perry gained a reputation for giving and being a generous philanthropist (https://www.slideshare.net/perrymandera). His dedication to the needy people in the Chicago area lead him to start a non-profit charitable organization, Custom Cares. Custom Cares Charities Inc., is the philanthropic arm of the transportation provider. They provide monetary gifts, clothing and food to the needy in the Chicago community, they also help others. During the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, Perry Mandera sent food and relief supplies and transportation to those affected by the storm’s powerful winds and rain. And he assisted with relief efforts for those areas damaged by the California wildfires.
